1. Plan effectively

Everybody needs a sense of direction. This helps our brain to clearly visualize our goals and act upon them. Now you cannot expect to finish 10 assignments and also prepare for an upcoming test in a day. A+ students are those who know how to use their time wisely with the help of effective plans! For your plan to be effective it has to be SMART:

SPECIFIC: You must be able to define your goals as much as you can. Thus, mention what you want to study and write exactly what you will be working on.

MEASURABLE: You need to think how much you can get done in a time period. For example, Your teacher has given you a maths homework which has 100 complex questions which have to be submitted by the end of the week. Therefore, you need to decide how many questions you will be doing in a day in order for you to complete it on time.

ACHIEVABLE: Make sure your goals are reasonable to be accomplished. You cannot expect to do 10 assignments and study for a test in one day.

RELEVANT: These goals you are working towards need to fit with your long-term goal. For, example if you are revising for your final exam for biology the night before; you should not just be wasting time studying just one topic you are bad at. Rather than do well in your final exam you have to give time equally to all important topics.

TIMELY: Your goals should have time limits. For example, if you have to study math then set a time limit for the number of hours you will be studying. Additionally, timing yourself helps you be organized. You can make daily, weekly, or even monthly study schedules.

2. Prepare for class before hand

It will be ideal if you read the topic or chapter going to be covered before attending that class. Go through the material in your syllabus. Additionally, print out the lecture notes beforehand or have them on a soft copy to take notes. Having the material in class will allow you to highlight important points the professor mentions and it will be easier for you to just add on your personal notes.

3. Revise, revise and revise!

Cannot stress this enough but revision is the key to your success. All these study tips goes to waste if you do not review the material. During your exams, only this will help you remember facts, figures, methodologies, formulas, and topics you have learned over the course of time. Cramming all the information a night before your exam will never help you! A+ students know most of their material at least a week before their exam. This reduces their anxiety and helps them perform even better.

4. Test yourself

The best way to revise and measure your progress is to test yourself. Do past papers, questions from your course material, or even your past exams you have done before the finals. Ask your teachers to give you the most testing material. This will fully prepare you and help you understand your strengths and weaknesses for you to work on. Furthermore, the testing makes your memory stronger and makes it easier to retrieve the information later on in the exam.

5. Take care of your mental and physical health

Relaxing, eating right, exercising, and sleeping properly are as important as studying the material. The study tips given above will be effective only if you take care of yourself.
